I am sharing this story with permission from my client.
I began working with a client on a Monday, 8 days after her horse riding accident. Her injuries were very serious—3 broken vertebrae in her lower back, bruised pelvis, bruised ribs, and a deflated lung. I was asked to come to her hospital room. When I walked in I saw a person in severe pain, under the influence of several heavy duty meds. She was sitting in a chair, slightly slumped forward. Her eyes closed, and she looked like a zombie. She acknowledged my hello, but was not coherent enough to have a conversation. I was glad that her husband was there to communicate with me. I explained to her that I was here for a Reiki session, was she up for it? And she responded with a “yes.”
For roughly 30 minutes I maneuvered around her chair and channeled Reiki. It was an amazing and powerful session for me as a practitioner; I felt and experienced many details that were verified by her husband. The energy flowed through me very strongly. I felt like a fire hose!
When the session was complete, I encouraged her to try to drink more water. She was able to respond with a coherent “you got it.”
The next morning when I arrived at her hospital room for session #2, she was awake and alert in her hospital bed! She was coherent, strong, and reported that she had eaten a little dinner the previous night, and then walked 170 steps down the hallway (roughly 7 hours after our first session). She even had a shower! She told me that she stopped taking the heavy duty narcotic drugs, and was only taking ibuprofen for pain. I looked at her with amazement---“but you have a broken back!” I said. She smiled, “I just don’t need them anymore.”
Wow!
Session 3 when I arrived at her hospital room the next morning, she was conversing with the nurses about being released and going home. Her medical staff is very pleased (and just amazed!) at her recovery. After the nurses left the room, we started the Reiki session. While we were in session, she had visitors come in to see her and chat for a few minutes. I sat at the foot of the bed continuing to channel the energy to her. I heard her tell her friends that “Sunday (the day before I arrived to start the Reiki) was a really bad day. I was in so much pain, I felt myself sliding down a slippery slope. I wasn’t sure I’d get back up out of it. I’m not even sure that I wanted to. Then we started Reiki.”
That made my soul sing to hear how Reiki helped not just her body, but her Spirit!
She was talking about her injuries and describing them to her visitors. Each time she mentioned something, I could feel the Reiki energy being concentrated in that spot. By her articulating where her issues were, the energy amplified the healing to those spots. As a practitioner, I learned much from this session.
Today I went to her house for Reiki session #5. She was standing at the kitchen table when I arrived. Her eyes were very bright, and she was chipper. I said “You look fantastic!” She smiled and said “look at this!” and she did a little dance! Her back is feeling WONDERFUL, and she reports that she is no longer taking even the ibuprofen for pain. She is med free! She will have another xray in 2 more weeks to see the state of her fractures. I am very curious to hear the reports of that xray!
